Irvine Rehab

Irvine is a city in Orange County, California. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Irvine is a hub of higher education institutions. The 2020 census recorded the population as being just over 300,000 people.

Many of those people will find themselves struggling with substance use in some form or another, and there are not that many Irvine rehab centers that can offer them treatment. However, there are numerous recovery centers nearby, including Luxe Recovery in Los Angeles.

Choosing the Right Level of Care

Drug and alcohol rehab isn’t uniform. Some people may need a higher level of care than others. Conversely, some people may need less stringent support than what can be found in a residential rehab center. As such, a person needs to be able to determine the best level of care for them.

Now, this decision is not one that is entirely up to the patient. Determining a person’s treatment program is something that an addiction specialist or a therapist will have to weigh in on.

In many cases, inpatient and outpatient treatment may be used. It may be determined that the best course of action for treating a person’s substance use disorder is for them to transition into an outpatient program after residential treatment as a means of aftercare.

Substance Use in the Area

Orange County has seen serious challenges when it comes to substance use. In 2020, there were approximately 1,000 substance-related deaths, 13,000 hospital visits, and 6,600 hospitalizations. While these rates are lower than the state of California and the nation as a whole, they are still quite concerning.

How Long is Rehab?

Generally speaking, inpatient treatment for alcohol and drug addiction lasts about 28 days. During these 28 days, a person will be given a variety of treatment options to help them manage drug or alcohol addiction as well as address any withdrawal symptoms that may happen as a result of detox.

However, some addiction treatment centers may offer programs that last longer than 28 days. Some can last several months. However, rehab can last longer than a person’s time in an alcohol and drug rehab center.

Addiction and mental health disorders are conditions for which there are no real cures. Drug and alcohol treatment is meant to help people manage their conditions. So, a person can receive treatment for these conditions for years.

This may seem disheartening, but many people who struggle with addiction can often build healthy lives while also receiving addiction treatment.

What Happens When You Leave Rehab?

There are a number of things that can happen after a person leaves rehab, depending on their treatment plan. For some people, their recovery journey may end, and they may return to their lives. However, some may need further support in their recovery.

This support can come in the form of various aftercare options. Some people may transition into a sober living home to help them learn how to be independent without falling back into old habits.

For others, their support may come in the form of support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. Regardless of what their aftercare looks like, many people will need a strong support system.

Building this support system can be somewhat difficult for some people, as addiction can sometimes strain a person’s relationships. Many addiction treatment programs account for this and have therapies to help repair these bonds so loved ones can become supporters in a person’s recovery.
